Son of Mrs. Elizabeth Hanson who resided in Tacoma, Washington.

Alvin served as a Staff Sergeant & Engineer / Gunner on B-25G #42-64705, 75th Bomber Squadron, 42nd Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Monterey County, California prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on June 27, 1941, prior to the war, in Seattle, Washington. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

B-25G #42-64705 took off, with a crew of 6 and other B-25's, from Stirling Airfield, Western Providence, Solomon Islands on a combat mission over Rabaul, East New Britain Province, Papua New Guinea.

They encountered a strong weather front that included large clouds and intense "updrafts" within the system. After going into the clouds B-25G #42-64705 was not seen nor heard from again. The entire crew was lost and are believed to have crashed into the sea.

Alvin was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart.
