"MRS. BROWN, RESIDENT 70 YEARS, DIES

Martha Jane Brown, resident of Urbana for nearly 70 years, died shortly after 9 o'clock Sunday morning at her home, 605 South Broadway. Death was caused by the infirmities of old age.

Martha Jane Harlan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jehu Harlan, was born July 21, 1848 [another source has July 24, 1847], in LaPorte, Ind., and came to Champaign county to reside in Urbana some time in the late 1860's.

She was married to Bish Brown [Francis A. Brown], Urbana, who died February 7, 1883, and has been a widow since that time. Mr. Brown was a grocer in Urbana for many years.

Mrs. Brown was a member of the First Baptist church of Urbana, and of Hope chapter 104, Eastern Star.

Parks [Mary Malinda Harlan married Flavious Josephus Parks], Warsaw, Ind., and the following grandchildren: Margaret Brown, Springfield; Mrs. Jeanette Rattary, Chicago, and Gaylor and Phyllis Brown, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, at the Renner funeral home, where the body was taken Sunday. Rev. C. L.
