Fairmont Woman Succumbs at 69; Funeral Friday
Mrs. Etta Derwae, 60, mother of Mrs. Walter Larsen of 1206 Day Street, died Tuesday evening at Fairmont Community hospital where she had been confined since Monday. Death was attributed to complications of diabetes.
She was born at Salem, Wis., Aug. 8, 1891 and was married there to John Derwae. They resided in Kenosha County until 1948 when she came to Fairmont to make her home with her daughter and son-in-law.
She was active in the Fairmont Methodist church, an officer in the local Royal Neighbor lodge, and formerly was active in the Rebekah lodge.
Surviving are Mrs. Larsen and a son, Edward J. Oberst, and two step-daughters, Mrs. Andrew Eucalano and Mrs. James Gunderson, all of Kenosha. There are nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Three sisters also reside at Kenosha.
Fairmont services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Olson funeral home with the Rev. John Rossiter, assistant Pastor of the Fairmont Methodist Church, officiating.
The body will be taken to Kenosha for services and burial Monday. Friends may call at the Olson chapel in Fairmont after noon Thursday.

Mrs. Etta Derwae, 70, Dies in Minnesota
Mrs. Etta Derwae, 70, a former resident of Kenosha, late of Fairmont, Minn., died at the Fairmont Community Hospital Tuesday night following a short illness.
She was born in Salem, Wis., on Aug. 8, 1890, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hartnell. She spent most of her lifetime in Kenosha county, and received her education in the county schools.
On Nov. 1, 1934, she married John A. Derwae, who preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1946. She moved to Fairmont to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Walter Larsen. She was a member of the Methodist church of Fairmont and the Royal Neighbors of America.
Survivors are one son, Edward J. Oberst, Kenosha, and three daughters, Mrs. Andrew Eucalano and Mrs. James Gunderson, both of Kenosha, and Mrs. Larsen. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. H.W. Schultz and Mrs. Arthur Feldkamp, both of Salem and Mrs. L.M. Smith, Paddock Lake. She was preceded in death by one brother, Gilbert Hartnell and one sister, Mrs. Mayme Baker.
