Ellen was born in West Suffield and lived in Windsor Locks for many years, before moving to Enfield in 1975. Ellen had worked at the Travelers Ins. Co. for 25 years before retiring in 1984.
Ellen is survived by her children, a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Barbara Hammond of Richmond, VA; a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Thomas Hancock of Enfield; two granddaughters, Jennifer Hammond and Andrea Hammond; two brothers-in-law, Walter Griffin of Arizona and Richard Griffin of Maine; four sisters-in-law, Mabel Irish of Collinsville, Elizabeth Sprowl and husband, Robert of Rockland, ME, Ruth Harrington of Cushing, ME and Theresa Torre of Enfield; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ellen was predeceased by two brothers, David Hastings and Robert Hastings and a sister, Irma Cortis.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Dec. 17, 1 p.m. at the J. M. Bassinger Funeral Home, 37 Gardner St., East Windsor. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery in Windsor Locks. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home Monday, Noon-1 p.m. prior to the service.
