Peggy A. (Cheesy Gram) Alton, 58, a resident of 49 Clinton Drive, Montgomery, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, in the Gatehouse due to undiagnosed metastatic lung cancer.

Born in Watsontown, Northumberland County, Pa., on Saturday, Dec. 29, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Laura (Snyder) Haught.

Peggy attended the City Church at Williamsport. She was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels and Share the Food Program, helped with many Montgomery Lions functions and in various other ways of community service. Her favorite things to do were attending flea markets and yard sales, playing softball, where she kept score and ran a concession stand for many years. Peggy enjoyed knitting baby blankets, puzzles, Christmas time, vacations, her cats and spending time with the grandkids.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Laura and David Moore, Williamsport; one son, Charles E. Green Jr., Montgomery; four grandchildren, Zachery, Elizabeth, Caleb and Rebekah; three brothers, David Haught, Guy Haught and James Haught; and one sister, Betty Hagembach. In addition to her lifelong companion, Charles E. Green Sr., who preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 2006, Peggy was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas Haught, Albert Snyder and Edward Reeder and one sister, Harriet Wertz.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Clinton Baptist Church, 60 Warren St., Montgomery at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, with Rev. Larry A. LeFeber officiating. Interment will be in the Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call on Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are being handled by the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 40 E.
