She was born in Fairmont on Aug. 19, 1922, daughter of the late Walter and Lilly D. (Wright) Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Coleman C. "Tug" Branham, in January 1968.
Katy was retired from Monongahela Power Co., where she worked as an executive secretary in the personnel department. She also had worked as a telephone operator for C&P Telephone in her earlier years.
She was a member of Oakwood Road Church of Christ. She was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and attended Fairmont State College.
Katy enjoyed traveling, gardening, dining out, cleaning, playing cards and golf. During her early retirement, she was active in the Meals on Wheels program, delivering meals daily to those in need.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Jane "Janie" Merendino and her husband Joe of Fairmont, Sandy Cain and her husband Roger of Morgantown, and Patricia Pettry of Arkansas; six grandchildren, Tony Merendino of Fairmont, Katy Merendino of Fairmont, Candi Richter and her husband Joe of Cincinnati, Ohio, Coleman Cain and his wife Gina of Berlin, Germany, Rob Pettry and his wife Brittany of Tiffin, Ohio, and Jennifer Peachey and her husband Brandon of Arkansas; and eight great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her sister, Doris Lee Hague of Fairmont; her longtime best friend and faithful companion, Robert "Bob" Nease of Fairmont; and her nephew, Charles "Chuck" Kuneff and his wife Kathy of Barrackville.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, James Pettry; a brother-in-law, Curt Hague; and a nephew, William "Bill" Kuneff.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 1 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Friday with longtime family friend Dr. Larry Stead officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Fairmont.
