He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Anne, as well as Mickey, his beloved canine "Fat Blonde Roommate" of 11 years.
As a graduate of University of Michigan's Business School, Bill was a founding partner of Crosby and Henry Insurance. He was a former East Grand Rapids City Commissioner and also a member of the Watershed Fishing Club. He loved "Tying Flies and Telling Lies."
He was proud to have served his country in World War II as a Lt. Col. In the USAF. Bill was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Surviving are Bill's sister, Patricia (Earl) Nelson; children, Michael C. (Kathy) Henry, Martha N. (Doug) Alberts and Melissa H. (Joe) Torres; grandchildren, Shawn M. (Kent) Owen, Michael P. (Lisa) Henry, Angela and Casey Fogerty and great-grandchildren, Henry, Oscar, Brennen, Drake, Egan and Moira.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Spectrum Health Hospice or Leaves Personal Care with the family's deepest gratitude for preserving Dad's dignity. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the funeral home. Visitation will be until the time of service on Saturday. The family is being served by:
