Mary Helen Hershberger Andrews was born in Elk Garden, WV in 1906, the eighth of 15 children born to James Hershberger and Edna Adeline Snider Hershberger.

She had four sisters:

Her inscription is located on the back of the grave marker for Adeline Hershberger (her mother) and James E. Hershberger (her brother). Her father is buried at Belington Fraternal Cemetery, Belington, Barbour County, WV.
