She was born in Orfordville on March 7, 1931, the daughter of Gustav M. and Betsey Marie (Grangaard) Heyerdahl. She married Donald H. Burtness on January 9, 1954 at Luther Valley Church. He passed away on May 3, 2003. Marie graduated from Orfordville High School and Beauty School in Madison. She had been a beautician in Fort Atkinson and a Mary Kay Consultant. She was a member of the Orfordville Lutheran Church and the ELCA. She was active in the church circles and served as circle chairman funeral luncheon coordinator. She was pianist for and sang in the choir and for many years was a member of Merry Twenty Homemakers. She died in Evansville Manor.
