Wife of Author Dies
THETFORD CENTER - Mrs. Mary Blanshard, wife of author Paul Blanshard, died yesterday at her home after a long illness. She was 62. Mrs. Blanshard was executive director of the Unitarian Fellowship for Social Justice until her retirement in 1961. In the 1930s she was a union, organizer in the New York garment industry.

Early Labor Leader, 62
THETFORD CENTER. Vt. (UPI) - Mrs. Mary Hillyer Blanshard, 62, a leader in the labor movement in New York in the 1930s, died Tuesday at her home. Mrs. Blanshard was arrested many times during the labor organizing drives. The wife of author Paul Blanshard, she was an active social worker in Vermont and other states. She once served as national executive director of the Unitarian Fellowship for Social Justice in Washington and was a member of the National Planned Parenthood League. She was born in Brooklyn, Mrs. Blanschard also leaves two stepsons. A memorial service will be held Saturday ln Thetford Center.
