Helen (Hodes) Goldfeder, 84, of Williamsport, died on Friday, Oct. 2, 2009 at Sycamore Manor.

Helen was born on Feb. 28, 1925 in Jeanette and was the daughter of the late Samuel and Rachel (Gross) Hodes.

She was married to the late Paul W. Goldfeder who had died in May 2000.

She was an English teacher at the South Williamsport Middle School and retired in 1986. She was a member of the Congregation Ohev Sholom. She was also a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Sorority, Hadassah, and Sholom Sisterhood.

Helen is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Philip and Laurie Goldfeder of The Woodlands, Texas, one daughter and son-in-law; Jeri and Alan Demel of Williamsport, five granddaughters; Rachel, Maura and Shayna Goldfeder, Dr. Stacie Demel and Julie Demel, one brother and sister-in-law; Dr. Abram and Mildred Hodes of San Bernardino, Calif., and five nieces and nephews.

The graveside service was held 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2 at the Ohev Sholom Cemetery, Williamsport with her spiritual leader Rabbi Shaul Rappeport officiating.

In keeping with Jewish tradition, there was no viewing or flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Williamsport Federation of Jewish Charities, c/o Marvin Hurwitz, 1000 Dawne Dr., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Arrangements were handled by the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport.
