Mary Louise Holeman Aulds / Auld 1862-1936
Mary Louise Holeman was born in 1862 in Illinois, a daughter of Mary Ann 'Ellis' and William Bill Holeman. Mary was born in a time of our American Civil War. From the dates and locations, it is envisioned the family traveled to Illinois for the mother Mary to give birth to Mary while father William was in the "civil war", as Missouri was in a turmoil.
Mary Holeman married M. J. Auld (Michael James) December 22, 1887 in Montague, Texas. FHL Film Number 1024888.
The online cemetery transcriptions were researched and did not find Mrs. Mary Auld/s internment even though the newspaper said Dixie. Buried in Dixie Cemetery are other Aulds; brother and sister-in-law are Rose Lee (Burnes) and William Henry Holeman (FG # 18255854); son Holly Aulds (1892-1970), and son Loney for Leon Auld/s no dates on marker. History Note: from Carol EJ. 2023
The Dixie post office was closed in 1931, the last remaining store at Dixie was closed about 1940 and the Dixie School was closed in 1941. Now, after the passing of more than seventy-five years the land along state highway 89 that was once occupied by town of Dixie has been fully reclaimed by nature. No sign of the once vital farm supply town exists, not even an historical marker
