Lillian A. Holiday Thompson Black, 93, widow of Robert “Bob” Black, passed away Friday at St. Joseph East Hospital. She was born in Clark County on October 5, 1922, to the late David P. Holiday and Elsie Lee Ennis. She was the former owner of Black’s Grocery in Athens. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon (George) Clough and Sandra (Barry) Welch, special friend, Marla Hubbard, other children, Jimmy (Mary) Black, Johnny Black, Ronnie “Dean” Black, Glenda (Tommy) Warner and her many special grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Thompson. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 16, at 2:30 p.m. at the Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., with Bro. Charles Dixon presiding. The family will receive friends from 1p.m. until the hour of service. Burial will be in the Clarmont Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Contributions may be made to Boones Creek Baptist Church, 185 N. Cleveland Rd, Lexington, KY 40509.
