Edward M. Holiday, 85, of the Valley, died Sunday, October 2, 2011, at Rosewood Heights. Mr. Holiday retired in 1991 from Local 633 and worked for D.W. Winkleman Construction. He was a devoted and active member of the Valley Men's Club and American Legion Valley Post 1468. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Edward is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Margaret Varvarinecz; a son, Michael E. (Pamela) Holiday of Syracuse; a daughter, Joyce H. Davis of Hankins; three grandchildren, Aaron Davis, and Matthew and Carlie Holiday; a sister, Jenny Smigovsky of Richeyville, PA. Mr. Holiday's family would like to thank the 6th floor staff at Rosewood Heights for the excellent care they provided during his final days. Services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in St. James Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 4612 South Salina Street. Contributions may be made to CNY Chapter, 441 West Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse,NY 13204.
