Mrs. Lona Carnes, age 88, of Russell Springs, died Saturday, May 20, at her home in Royville. Survivors include her husband, Stanley Carnes; three children, Edmon Carnes, Greenville, Mississippi, Mrs. Isabell Bernard, Russell Springs, and Clifford Carnes, Edinburg, Indiana; one brother, Marcus Holt, Jamestown; two sisters, Minnie Butler and Edith Brooks, both of Russell Springs; 18 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
Four children and her parents, Sarah Knight and J.R. Holt, preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at 2:00 Monday, May 22, at the chapel of Rippetoe Funeral Home with Rev. Carol Egnew officiating. Interment was in Carnes Cemetery below Jamestown. Pallbearers were fellow members of the Russell Springs Christian Church.
