Eugene F. Hook, a native of Germany, came to the United States when a year old with his parents (Michael and Clara Hook) and settled on the land where the city of Milwaukee now stands. At that time Milwaukee was a hamlet of eight or ten houses. He was married there to Madelaine Strohmeyer. they moved to Grundy Center, Iowa, and to Cedar Falls in 1881. In 1901 they came to Lyon county, MN and bought land in Monroe township. Eugene had 5 sons and 1 daughter - Frank, Andrew, Annie, Joseph, Peter and George.
