Aaron "Bud" Hook, 83, died Friday, February 16, 2007 at Thief River Care Center, Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 23, at Zion Lutheran Church in Viking, with Rev. Luther Peterson officiating. Casket bearers included all of Aaron's grandchildren. Interment will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, at Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, with a 7 p.m. prayer service and for one hour prior to service at the church, Friday.
Aaron Vance Hook was born to Charles and Lillian (Erickson) Hook, September 28, 1923 in Bemidji. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was raised and educated in Bemidji and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1941.
He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942. After serving in the South Pacific, he received a honorable discharge in 1946, with the rate of TM 1st Class. He earned 6 service ribbons and 12 combat stars.
He worked for Pontiac Motor Division, but returned to Bemidji and married Lois Ann Vadnais in 1947. He served in the National Guard and was discharged in 1950.
Bud was employed by Lakehead Pipe Line Company in February, 1951. He started in Bemidji, transferred to the Clearbrook Station and moved to Viking in 1953, until his retirement in 1986, with the position of Mechanical Supervisor.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Viking, the VFW, Thief River Falls and was active in the Cooties, Funeral Honor Guard and also active in the Shriners. He loved his house and living on the farm in Viking and especially loved his family.
He is survived by 2 sons: Gary (Janet), Woodbury and Steven (Sharon) of Thief River Falls; four grandsons; five granddaughters; two great-grandsons; five great-granddaughters; two step-grandchildren;one step-great-grandson; two sisters, Donna Beardsley of Iowa and Carol (Donald) Peck of Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews, daughter-in-law, Michele Hook of Minot, N.D.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois on June 25, 1997; son, Thomas on January 20, 2006; parents and two brothers, Richard and Darrell.
