MACON - Lucile H. Asbell, 97, died Wednesday at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday at New Elim Baptist Church, 4368 Hartley Bridge Road 31216 with burial following in the church cemetery. The Rev. Joy Wilson will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M., Friday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. -She was born December 6, 1909 in Macon, Georgia and attended Bibb County public schools. She was a member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church, formerly attending Sunday School and the Joyseekers. -The widow of Emory E. Asbell, they were married on St. Patrick's Day, 1930. He passed away June 1985. -The eldest daughter of James Clifford and Mildred DuPree Hunnicutt, Lucile learned to sew at an early age, sewing extensively for family members. She used that talent and her heart full of love in service to others, tackling many complicated and unusual sewing projects, making draperies and working for an upholstery shop. -She taught herself to barber and cut the hair of many neighborhood children, many receiving their first hair cut sitting in her baby's high chair. -To all who knew her, she was the epitome of a servant. She never wavered in her desire to do for others and spent countless hours offering a helping hand in whatever project was needed. -She was preceded in death by brothers, T. Clifford Hunnicutt, Sr. and George S. Hunnicutt and sisters, Marguerite Lane and Julia Flanders. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Cemetery Fund of New Elim Baptist Church or to Hospice of Central Georgia, P.O. Box 6533, Macon, GA 31208.
