Funeral services for Ron Hunter, 63, of Burleson, were held Monday, September 13 at Mountain Valley Chapel in Burleson. Rev. Mike Milburne officiated. Burial was held with full Military Honors at the Burleson Cemetery in Burleson. Mr. Hunter died Friday, September 10, 1999, in Fort Worth. He was a retired safety director for the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram.
Mr. Hunter was born October 7, 1935, in Los Angeles, California to William F. Hunter and Marian Moore. He married Bertha Jo Peterson of Durant, Oklahoma on July 29, 1983.
Mr. Hunter was a dedicated volunteer throughout his life. In addition to his military service, Ron was involved in several fraternal organizations, including serving as the Commander of American Legion #549 in both 1985 and 1995. During his term as Commander, Ron designed the Johnson County Veterans Memorial honoring all county residents who died while in service to their country. Ron was also a member of Mountain Valley Country Club and the Crowley Moose Lodge. He and his wife Bertha Jo are members of the First Baptist Church of Burleson. "Ron's spirit and ideas will live forever."
Mr. Hunter is survived by his lovely wife of 16 years, Bertha Jo Hunter of Burleson; his sons, Robby of Oregon, Russell of Oklahoma, and William of Azle; four daughters, Lori Ballinger and husband, Steve of Halton City, Randi Darby of Azle, Pam Glazener and husband, Alan of Fort Worth, and Kathy Daniels and husband, Dale of Burleson; his mother, Marian Hunter of Watauga, two brothers, Larry of Amarillo and Howard of Houston; sister, Saranell Collins of North Richland Hills; seven grandchildren, Coy, Stephanie, Byron, Owen, Tenee, Holly and Quincy; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mountain Valley Funeral Home of Burleson handled the arrangements.
