DAVIS -- Graveside rites for Lucille Hutchins Corfman, 101, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Green Hill Cemetery with Dr. Vernon Lawrence officiating.
Born June 12, 1897, at Purcell, Indian Territory, to Charles and Emmie L. Warner Hutchins, she died Feb. 26, 1999, at Sulphur. She married Edward C. Corfman March 16, 1959, at Norman. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1983.
Having moved to Davis in 1900, Mrs. Corfman graduated from Davis High School in 1911. She attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated in 1918 with a bachelor of fine arts degree in piano. She taught piano and theory at Checotah for two years. She then taught at Southwestern State College at Weatherford. Mrs. Corfman returned to Davis in 1926, teaching piano and theory at Davis and Sulphur. She moved to Sulphur in 1959. She had taught piano for more than 50 years. She served on the State Accreditation Board For Music, representing the southeast district.
Mrs. Corfman was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church and a charter member of the Euterpean Music Club of Davis and the Schubert Music Club of Sulphur. She was also a member of the national and Oklahoma Federation of Music Clubs. A number of her former students are music teachers throughout the country.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Bessie Belle Yarborough, Katie, Texas.
Services are under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
