Ann Josephine “Joy” Beeman Midwest City Joy was born June 2, 1933, in London, England to Ann and Patrick Igoe. She fell peacefully asleep on October 2, 2015 after a long illness.

As a girl, she was sent to boarding school in Ireland for safety during World War II. Later, she attended Pitman’s Training Centre, London, earning a Business Skills Certificate and Diploma in 1952.

She met Lyle, a U.S. Airman, on New Year’s Eve in Piccadilly Circus. They wed in 1954 and were married for 58 years until his death in 2013. Together, they traveled all over the world, living in Europe, the Philippines, and many U.S. locations. Joy was a devoted homemaker and also enjoyed painting, ceramics, bowling, bridge, and bingo. She belonged to such organizations as the Officer’s Wives Club and the TBPA, a British heritage association. In 1973, she and Lyle settled in Midwest City. Joy had a spirit for service, volunteering at OU Medical Center’s Children’s Hospital for 15 years with dear friends Mary and Sylvia. She served her church, St. Philip Neri, for many years as a Eucharistic Minister.

Joy was preceeded in death by her parents and husband.
