For more than 30 years, she operated Jeans Day Care in Levelland, providing a loving, safe, and stimulating environment for hundreds of children. Jean moved to Abilene in 1996 to be near her grandchildren. Joe Hromas died in 2002; a son, Larry Keith, had died in 1970.

She was born on December 17, 1926 in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska. She previously resided in Bovina, O'Donnell, Littlefield and Clovis, New Mexico. She was married to Joe Wesley Hromas on July 21,1946 in Bovina, Texas. Joe died on June 29, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Keith Hromas, in 1970. She owned and operated Jean's Day Care for more than 30 years.
She is survived by her children, Marcie Hromas of Arlington, Texas, Sherrilyn Hromas of Amarillo, Kevin Hromas and his wife, Lorri, of Houston, and Lynetta Greene and her husband, Sheldon, of Abilene, Texas; a brother, Keith Inness of Burien, Washington; a sister, Carol Secord of Sun City, Arizona; and three grandchildren.
