Mrs. Irwin was a dental technician seven years, working for several orthodontists. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity. Survivors include her husband, Greg Irwin; her parents, Ivan and Nancy Chalfie; three sisters, Deborah M. and Diana L. Chalfie and Denise L. Koltz; three brothers, David E., Barry N. and Daniel J. Chalfie; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald King and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Chalfie. Hamilton County officials Monday identified the woman who drowned in Geist Reservoir as Deborah L. Chalfie Irwin, 26, Carmel. Mrs. Irwin and a friend were swimming with an inner tube near a dock about __ mile north of the 96th Street bridge. About 10 other friends were on the dock, said Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputy David A. Wyler. The friend swam back to the dock. Witnesses said Mrs. Irwin swam into deeper water without the inner tube before they lost sight of her, Wyler said. Her body was later found in __ feet of water about 5 feet from the dock, Wyler said. Services for Mrs. Irwin, an Indianapolis native and longtime resident, will be held at 2 p.m. today in Indianapolis Hebrew Temple, of which she was a member. Arrangements are being handled by Aaron-Ruben Nelson Meridian Hills Mortuary. She was graduated from Carmel High School in 1974 and Professional Careers Institute in 1976, where she was first in her class. She attended Indiana State University.

Debbie Chalfie Irwin Is Swimming Victim
Tragedy struck Sunday when Mrs. Debbie Chalfie Irwin drowned while swimming in Geist Reservoir. She had been a dental technician for seven years. Funeral services where held Tuesday at Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation with Rabbi Stein conducting. She is survived by her husband, Greg Irwin; her parents, Ivan and Nancy Chalfie; three sisters, Deborah M. Washington, D.C., Mrs. William Koltz, Muncie and Diana Chalfie; three brothers, Daniel E. and Daniel J., city, and Barry N. of Tuscon; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald King; paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Herman Chalfie and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Harry Eck.
