Burl Ives' Mother Dies - Mrs. Cordellia Ives, 72, mother of singer Burl Ives, died Wednesday, in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Norma Gifford, Newton. Mrs. Ives suffered a stroke five years ago and never recovered fully. Her husband, Frank, died seven years ago. The couple reared six children in Newton. Burl is the youngest of three sons and is a nationally known ballad singer and actor.
Mrs. Ives leaves two other daughters, Mrs. Audrey J. Halterman of Willow Hill and Mrs. Argola Walk of Newton, and two other sons, Artie of Newton and Clarence of Macomb.
Services will be held in Hunt City Christian Church, with burial in Mound Cemetery, northeast of Newton.
