Born September 23, 1918 in Wake Forest, NC, he was the only son of the late Nathaniel T. Jackson and Lula Pearce Jackson. A long-time member of the Gospel Fellowship Association, he attended Hampton Park Baptist Church. He served the Lord faithfully as Postmaster at Bob Jones University for 42 years. A veteran of World War II, he served in the US Navy for six years. While on Guadalcanal, he achieved the rank of Chief Pharmacist's Mate and was informed he was the youngest chief in the Navy at that time. His service medals included: American Defense, American Theater of Operations, Asiatic-Pacific Theater with one campaign star, Philippine Liberation, World War II Victory, and Good Conduct with one star.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Iris Jumper Jackson; one son, Larry and wife Betty; two grandsons, Darrell and Eric Jackson of Greenville; one granddaughter, Andrea and husband, Matt Caldwell, of Easley; and three great-grandchildren, Clay and Ali Caldwell and Gage Jackson.
In addition to his parents and an infant sister, Garline, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Chalk Jackson; and an infant son.
