Mrs. Betty Sue Carter of Hartford passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at her home with her husband and children by her side. She was 74.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2009 in Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Slocomb. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Alivee Jacobs, her daughter, Dawn Carter, and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Carter.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Foyal Sanford Carter, Sr. of Hartford; four children: Foyal Sanford Carter, Jr. of Panama City Beach, FL, Brenda Lee MacConnell (Robert) of Hartford, Connie Sue Hawkins (Patrick) of News Strawn, KS, Dianne Kennedy (Edwin) of Panama City , FL; grandchildren: Candice (Jeremy), John (Jessica), Jerad (Julie), Michael, Thomas (Danielle), Derek, Connie, Blake, Suzannah, Jenny, Taylor, Danielle, Carol Ann, Lizzy, and Rachel; three great-granddaughters: Madison, Marley Grace, and Aspen; and brother-in-law: Larry D. Carter and his wife, Patricia.

The family would like to express their thanks to Latisha Boyett, Nurse Cynthia and the entire Covenant Hospice staff.
