Al Jara, lifelong Fort Worth resident and Christian, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, in Fort Worth. Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Sagamore Baptist Church, 2301 Dottie Lynn Pkwy., Fort Worth, 76120. Interment: Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 10 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service. He was Born March 23, 1937, to Alfonso Jara Sr. and Maria Jara. He was preceded in death by his parents and many siblings, six brothers, Vincent, Robert, Manuel, Gonzalo, Joe, John Jara; and sister, Della Alvarez. He was a member of Riverside Evangelistic Temple for 45 years and then Sagamore Baptist church until he passed. He was the owner of City Printing Company for 21 years, charter member of the East Fort Worth Business Association, commissioner for Fort Worth Human Relations Council, and awarded Outstanding Citizen of East Fort Worth in 1990. His passion was being a member of the Lions Club. He was a member for 43 years. He served as district governor and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2010. For the last few years his activities were restricted, but the love of his life was his family and his time enjoying having them around. Survivors: His wife for 57 years, Emma Jara; twin sons, Richard and Ronald Jara; grandchildren, Kristian, Eric, Joni Jara, Ronni Jara Mankin and husband Bily, Ian, Andrew and Julia Jara; five great-grandchildren, Audi Jara, Julian, Sophie, Cesar Santos, Dimitri Mankin; and several nieces and nephews.
