Mrs. Auckland Dies Sunday
Mrs. Ethel Auckland, 81, 106 1/2 E. Briggs, died suddenly Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jennifer Bennett, in Salem, Ill.
Mrs. Auckland had made her home in Salem since last December. She was at the dinner table when she was stricken. Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. James W. Dendler. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Auckland was born Feb. 27, 1885 at Central City, the son of Albert and Lillian Baker Jayne. She was married to John Auckland in 1910. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Jean Kandler, Fort Smith, Ark.; Mrs. Jennifer Bennett, Salem, Ill.; Mrs. Patricia Brown, Fairfield; Davis Auckland, Chicago, Ill.; and Wallace Auckland, Torraine, Calif.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two sisters, Marion Jayne and Mrs. Augusta Baumgardner, both of Pomona, Calif. One brother and two sisters are deceased.

Note: a son, Wallace B. Auckland, was born Dec. 29, 1918 near Eldon, Iowa, and he died on Jan. 18, 1987 in San Pedro, California. He was the husband of Mary Ellen Huie, and they had two sons. His obituary was published in the Fairfield Ledger on Monday, January 19, 1987, but no specific burial information provided and it doesn't appear, a/o Jan. 7, 2018, that a specific burial memorial for him has been created/managed on FindAGrave for linking purposes.
