Jens Christian Jensen was born in Veerst, Jutland, Denmark, May 30, 1871 to Terkel Jensen and Ane Katrine Marie Hansen. He came to the United States in 1892. He spent time in Alaska before settling in Manette in 1900. In 1905 he made a return trip to Denmark to bring back his bride, Valborg Petrine Pedersen, born in Sonderup, Sjaelland, Denmark, February 24, 1880. They married in Tyler, Minnesota, July 20, 1905. They became the parents of six children; Viggo, Ellen, Svend, Edith, Ervin and Alfred.
In 1920 they purchased 40 acres bounded on the west by Trenton Avenue, the east by Jacobsen Blvd., the north by Holman Street and the south by a line near Alder Street. They cleared and farmed about 10 of the acres, producing a variety of fruits and vegetables and specializing in Marshall strawberries. They also kept up to four cows and sold milk.
Valborg died in childbirth in 1926. In 1941, Chris married Naomi Emerson.
