Direne was a pastor at Living Spirit Church of God in Ojo Amarillo. She was full of compassion and laughter and was very bold and devoted in the word of God. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a teacher to all. She would reach out to help anyone, no matter what situation they were in, and she always said, "with God, it is possible." She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting and sharing her testimony. But, most of all, she was a mother to all, and young people would call her "Mama G."

Garfield and Amy Garfield; brother, Erick Joe; sisters, Ada Nez, Diane Henderson, Irene Kellywood and Joann King; and five grandchildren.
