Joe Edwin Ashwood, Jr., 51, of Shamrock ? (Texas) died Wednesday, October 08, 2003. Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, at the Calvary Christian Church in Shamrock with Joe Jernigan, pastor officiating. Cremation was by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St., Amarillo, Texas.
Mr. Ashwood was born in Muskogee, OK. He lived most of his adult life in Tulsa, OK, where he owned and operated Ashwood Deck's, etc. He moved to Shamrock in 1997. He was a Christian and took great pride in his work. He was a very loving husband, father, brother and uncle.
He marries Yvonne Johnson in 1977 in Tulsa, OK.
Survivors include his wife of the home, 3 daughters; Elizabeth Ashwood of Shamrock, Mary Margaret Ashwood of Weatherford, OK and Stephanie Sue Ashwood of Fort Smith, AR., three sisters, Judy Ann Puckett and Jennifer Kaye Sims, both of Sayre, OK. and Joyce Lynn Ferris of Shamrock, TX., two brothers-in-law; Jimmy Johnston and Chris Johnston both of Tulsa, OK, his mother-in-law; Dee Johnston of Tulsa, OK. Eight nephews and four nieces.
The family requests memorial donations to Olivia's Angel, c/o BSA Hospice, 200 NW 7th, Amarillo, TX 79107.
Note: This is a grandson of Harry Monroe Ashwood and Mary Ellis (Thompson) Ashwood, son of Joseph Edwin (Edward?) Ashwood and Hazel Whittington.
