It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of our loving matriarch Margaret Marie Paul (nee Joe) who, after braving a lengthy illness, died peacefully on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit with her loving husband, Melvin and family members by her side.
Born in Sydney, the daughter of the late John and Helen Joe, she was raised by her grandparents the late Joe C. and Margaret Marshall.
A devout Christian in her lifetime journey to St. Anne's Mission Church and St. Anthony Daniel parish and annually pilgrimage to St. Anne deBeaupré. She was highly devoted to good St. Anne and was happy to camp on Chapel Island every year to spend quality time with her children, friends and grandchildren. She was a skilled craftsperson and trained in Early Childhood Development having worked at the Membertou Little Chiefs Daycare Centre.
Margaret (affectionately known as Ma'kit) is survived by her husband of 48 years, Melvin Daniel Paul; sons, Danny, Clifford, Blair, and daughters, Darlene, Kimberley, and Laureen, all of Membertou. She is also survived by her sister, Susie Jane Stevens; brothers, James, Charles, Dana, and Keith; numerous nephews and nieces; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. She also raised several foster children, all of whom she loved equally as her own - they include Judy Ann Marshall, Nicholas Isaac, and Brian J. Johnson. Several other foster children received the benefit of her love as well and numerous godchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters, Dolena who died in infancy, Evelyn Ginnish, Mary Ruston; brothers, Donald Gordon Joe, Donald Marshall Sr. and Simon Marshall and grandson Mise'l Tyler Paul.
