Bruno Johnson, 94, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 10, 2017. Bruno was born April 16, 1922 in Wittenberg, Wisconsin. He graduated from Wittenberg High School in 1940 and enlisted in the Army, becoming a corporal in the Signal Corps and spending 27 months in Europe.
Bruno came to Anchorage, Alaska in 1947 in construction and was married to his first wife, Virginia Gordon, for 35 years. He was a 50-year member of the Carpenter’s Union, Masonic Lodge of Alaska, honored as King Regent of Pioneers of Alaska, and proud member of Shriners International. Bruno lived in Alaska for 60 years, marrying Florence Johnson in 1993. Bruno enjoyed listening to classical music, traveling, cribbage, and playing with the grandchildren.
Bruno is preceded in death by his first wife Virginia. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Florence Johnson; nephew Allen Zahn; his stepdaughters Nancy Wike, Susan Smith, Neva Hutchinson, Bonnie Hawley; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. .
