Longtime Anchorage resident Christine Elizabeth "Christy" Johnson, 44, died Aug. 25, 2005, in her sleep at a friend's home in Houston. A visitation along with a funeral were held Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary, 11621 Old Seward Highway. A celebration of life was afterward at her sister Karen's home.

Ms. Johnson was born Feb. 20, 1961, in Fairbanks to Robert and Marie Johnson. She and her family moved to Anchorage later that year. She moved to Colorado in 1983 and then to Washington state in 1989, returning to Alaska in 1992. Ms. Johnson was pursuing a human services degree at the University of Alaska Anchorage for the past two years. Before that, she worked for Checker Cab and as a delivery driver for Pizza Hut. She loved the outdoors, especially camping, canoeing, fishing and skiing.

She is survived by her mother; son, Sheldon Johnson of Las Vegas; sisters and spouses, Marie "Mij" and Steve MacDougall of Lovelock, Nev., Karen and Jerry Eggleston and Lela and Jurgeon Klingert of Anchorage, and Jay and Jerry Marquez and Lynda Barnes of Beaverton, Ore.; brother, Walter Johnson of Anchorage; and dear friends, Gilbert Chavesta of Anchorage and Donald Stoner of Colorado Springs. She was preceded in death by her father.
