Andrew J. Johnson was a Second Lieutenant in the Army Air Force, assigned as a Pilot flying a B-25 in the 501st Bomber Squadron, 345th Bomber Group, Medium "The Air Apaches".
Andrew was KIA during the Mission. They were hit by FLAK and the engine burst in flames. A Mitsubishi Zero came from behind shot them, and while descending the plane exploded on 28 April 1945. He is honored with a Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart, Good Combat Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.
