RITES PENDING
FOR MRS. BARKER

Funeral services are pending at West Funeral Home for Mrs. Ocie Mae Barker, 59, who died Saturday at a local hospital after a lengthy period of poor health.

A resident of Carlsbad for the last 26 years, Mrs. Barker lived at 226 Plum Street. She was born Jan. 4, 1894, in Paris, Ark., and was a member of the Church of God in Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur Barker; two sons, Grady Barker of Carlsbad and Herbert Barker of San Francisco, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Lucille Rogers and Mrs. Edith Nell Chamber of Carlsbad, Mrs. Lillie Amos of San Francisco, and Mrs. Willie Mae Rogers of Needles, Calif.; four brothers, Garland Johnson of Carlsbad, Riley Johnson of Clovis, Jeff Johnson of Los Angeles and Jimmy Hardwick of Paris, Ark.; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

BAKER RITES
WEDNESDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Ocie Mae Barker, 59, who died Saturday in a local hospital, will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow at the Church of God in Christ. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Gibson, pastor.

Burial will be in Carlsbad Cemetery under the direction of the West Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Sylas Kidd, Samuel Alexander, L.B. Scruggs, H. Jones, Charley Mayes and Leo Young.

A resident of Carlsbad for the past 26 years, Mrs. Barker was born in Paris, Ark. and was employed here as a cook for the old Eddy County Hospital and for a time at the Memorial Hospital.

She served as a missionary for the Church of God in Christ and was also the "mother" of the local church. She had been in ill health for the past two years.

Mrs. Barker is survived by her husband, Arthur Barker; two sons, Grady Barker of Carlsbad and Herbert Barker of San Francisco; four daughters, Mrs. Lillie Amos of San Francisco, Mrs. Willie Mae Roger of Needles, Calif., Mrs. Lucille Rogers and Mrs. Edith Nell Chambers of Carlsbad; four brothers, Garland Johnson of Carlsbad, Riley Johnson of Clovis, Jeff Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif., and Jimmy Harwick of Paris, Ark.; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
