MRS. BEALS,
PIONEER
Mrs. Nannie B. Beals, 76, Carlsbad resident for 33 years, died at 3:15 o'clock Saturday morning at her home, 107 South Alameda Street, following an illness of several weeks.
Mrs. Beals' granddaughter, Miss Lorene Powell, and niece, Mrs. E.L. Lusk and Col. Lusk, of Roswell, were at her bedside when the end came.
Funeral will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the west Funeral Home with Dr. William S. Dando, Presbyterian minister, in charge of the service.
Interment will be held at Carlsbad Cemetery.
A grandson, Joseph M. Powell, of Springfield, Mo., will arrive Sunday for the funeral.
Mrs. Beals reared Miss Lorene Powell and Joseph M. Powell as their mother died when they were children.
Her husband, J.J. Beals, died in 1926 after many years spent running a transfer business here.
Other survivors include; one son, W.W. Beals, of Lee Summit, Mo.; three brothers, Wash Johnson, of Higginsville, Mo., and Will and Walter Johnson, of Odessa, Mo.; and two great-grandchildren, Alice and Josephine Powell, of Springfield, Mo.
Members of the Order of Eastern Star, of which Miss Powell is a member, will attend the funeral in a body.
