Edith was one of nine children born to Edward Anderson Dolen and Myrtle Leona Padgett.

While she was born in Corpus Christi Texas, her family moved through Texas, into New Mexico and finally settled in Oklahoma where she attended school for a very short period.

At 19 years of age she married Haskell "Hack" Jones. They lived most of their life in Oklahoma where they had ten children, one died as an infant. While in Oklahoma the 1930 census shows Edith as a housewife, but in 1940 when it looks as though Haskell suffered some unemployment as a farm laborer, Edith worked in a sawmill full time.

By the early 1960's the couple lived in Stockton, California. The thought is they moved with, or shortly after, a couple of their children for work in a dairy.

She was a devoted mother and very involved grandmother. She enjoyed quilting and focusing on her many grandchildren.

In 1976 Haskell died suddenly while in Tipton, Oklahoma attending the funeral of one their sons. After Haskell's death, Edith moved to a house in Tipton purchased for her by a couple of her daughters. She lived in her home until being moved to a nursing facility, after suffering a couple of strokes, where she passed at the age of 78 years.

Her son, Everett and husband, Haskell are buried side by side. Edith is buried at the end of these two plots. Five plots were purchased in 1976 and it is believed by the family that due to an error (by the cemetery or misunderstanding by the family at the time), she is not buried next to Haskell, but close to his feet.
