Mrs. Ala Jones Bandy, 87, of Greenville died Saturday at Rolling Green Village. Born in Nashville, GA, she was a daughter of the late David Mitchell and Mattie Tyson Jones and widow of the Reverend John James Bandy, Jr. Mrs. Bandy graduated from Southern Business University and Georgia Evening School, a division of the University of Georgia and attended Indiana University. Mrs. Bandy was a member of First Baptist Church Greenville and the Price Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her daughter, Darla Bandy Hart, and husband, Stephen, of Alpharetta, GA; son, John James Bandy, III and wife, Sheryl, of Simpsonville; four grandchildren, Barrett and Christine Hart, John James Bandy, IV, and Mary Katherine Bandy; sister, Lawanna Davis, and husband, Donald; and two brothers, Larry Jones, and wife, Christine, and Herbert Jones. Mrs. Bandy was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Bullard, and two brothers, Virgil and Kenon Jones.

Visitation will be held Monday from 7:00-8:30 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown and Tuesday from Noon-1:00 pm in the Remembrance Chapel Mausoleum of Woodlawn Memorial Park. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm in the Remembrance Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Greenville, Mission Fund, 847 Cleveland St., Greenville, SC 29601.
