Edgar Higbee Jordan was the third child born to Josephine Higbee and John P. Jordan. They continued the family tradition, giving Edger his mother's maiden name for his middle name. He was joined in wedlock to Matilda Flentge on September 1, 1885 in Jackson, Missouri. They had only one child, a daughter whom they named Eva. They remained married until his untimely death at the early age of 38.
