Monica Marie Borgognoni, 75, of Springfield, passed away at 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at her residence.

Monica was born July 8, 1936, the daughter of Jerome and Mary Carney Jordan. She married James Borgognoni on September 7, 1963 in Farmersville.

Monica graduated from St. John's School of Nursing. She worked at St. John's Hospital as an operating nurse. She then went to work for the State of Illinois, Department of Social Security Disability. Monica was known for being kind, courageous, and faith-filled. In her spare time, she enjoyed golfing, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John Jordan.

She is survived by her husband, James, of Springfield; three children, Sheri (husband, Jeff) Stauffer of Springfield, Michael (wife, Jen) Borgognoni of Montgomery, IL and Mary Beth Borgognoni of Chatham; one brother, James "Alex" (wife, Mary Ann) Jordan of Divernon; and five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jordan, and John Michael Stauffer, all of Springfield, and Quinn and Leah Borgognoni of Montgomery, IL.

Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
