Patty Buchanan Joyner

Virginia Beach - Patty Buchanan Joyner, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 in Virginia Beach, VA. Born October 2, 1929 in Pike County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Earl M. Buchanan and Lutie May Powell Buchanan, and wife of the late Robert Edwin Joyner. Patty worked as an ICU Nurse for 15 years at Portsmouth General Hospital and was an active member at First Baptist Church of Norfolk for 12 years. Patty will be remembered for her wisdom, her unwavering faith, and love for her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her loving memory are her five children, Susan Parker and her husband, Tommy, Robert E. Joyner, Jr. and his wife, Nina, Karen Shoaf and her husband, Bill, Steven E. Joyner and his wife Cat, Mark H. Joyner and his wife, Karen; a sister Joan Babb; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and other loving extended family members.

The family will greet friends Monday, May 18, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Chapel of First Baptist Norfolk, 312 Kempsville Rd., Norfolk, VA 23502. A celebration of life will begin at 11:00 following the visitation. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, 4569 Shoulders Hill Rd, Suffolk, VA 23435.
