Suffolk - On Friday, July 21, 2017, the Lord sent his precious angels to bring home his sweet angel, Mildred Bowman, to his heavenly kingdom. She was quiet, humble, and loved attending church. Native of Suffolk, VA, she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She retired from Portsmouth Public School System, worked for Suffolk Public School System, and Suffolk Meals on Wheels. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Claudie Joyner, Sr.; husband, Albert L. Bowman; siblings Evelyn Roberts, Dorothy Baker, Charlie Joyner Jr., and Robert Lee Joyner. She is survived by her lovely daughter, Crystal Bowman; one sister, Cora Joyner of Newark, NJ; one brother, George Joyner of Suffolk, VA; one sister in law, Shirley Joyner of Chesapeake, VA; two grandchildren, Latricia Bowman of North Wales, PA, and Craig Bowman of Portsmouth, VA; dearly devoted niece, Malinda Beamon (Thomas) of Suffolk, VA; and a host of relatives, and friends. A celebration of life will be held noon Saturday, July 29, 2017 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home of Suffolk, VA. She will be laid to rest at Meadowbrook Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
