Hattie Joyner Dailey , 97, died Oct. 11, 2005. She retired as co-operator of Dailey’s Supermarket. She was a native of Sedley, Va., and predeceased by her husband of 59 years, John Melton Dailey Sr. She was a member of Suffolk Christian Church for 55 years in which she was also a member of the West Memorial Sunday School Class. She was formerly a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed the handicraft of knitting and sewing. She was the daughter of the late Effie Jane Cobb Joyner and William Leonard Joyner. She was also predeceased by her son, John Melton Dailey Jr. and grandson, Jeff A. Dailey. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Dan E. Dailey Sr. and Judy Dailey of Suffolk; a devoted daughter-in-law, Mary Emily Dailey of Suffolk; grandchildren, Dan E. Dailey Jr., Christopher Dailey, Allison Dailey Gignac, Amy D. Ellis and Jennifer D. Edwards; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Suffolk Christian Church by the Rev. Michael D. Halley. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 6 to 7 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Contributions may be made to the Suffolk Christian Church Care and Concern Committee, 216 N. Main St., Suffolk, VA 23434.
