OBITUARY

WASHINGTON - Mrs. Emma "Lillian" Benedict, 87, of 200 Carlson, died at 5:08 a.m. today at Fondulac Nursing Manor, East Peoria.

Born March 11, 1897, in Springfield, she was a daughter of Juergens Hans and Anna Hickman Juergens. She marries Jacob W. Benedict, July 3, 1930, in Springfield. He died June 16, 1968, in Peoria.

She was employed as head cook at Roosevelt School, East Peoria, for 10 years, last working in 1959.

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. East Peoria, and its Ladies Guild, and the Roosevelt School Mothers Club.

Surviving are three sons, John, Harold and Carl Benedict, all of East Peoria; one sister, Mrs. Nellie Thornbergh of Springfield; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by six brothers and six sisters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at her church, the Rev. Vernon Bettermann officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at LeRoy Schmidt Memorial Chapel, East Peoria.
