Died in Kaiser Sunnyside Hospital, Portland. She was born in Montreal, the daughter of Harry and Rose Burkowitz Kaufman. She was raised and educated in Montreal, where she graduated from high school. She then attended business school for two years. She married Bill Gibbs. Mr. Gibbs died shortly after their marriage. In the early 1970s she moved to Mississauga, Ontario, and lived there until she moved to Eagle Creek in 1997. In Mississauga, she was a receptionist for an office leasing company. She and Ron Filtz were married March 14, 1997, in Eagle Creek. Mrs. Filtz moved to Yamhill in 1998. She belonged to the Juvenile Diabetes Association and was a counselor for disabled people. She loved working with computers. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Howard Gibbs of Hamilton, Ontario, and Michael Gibbs of Mississauga; two sisters, Leona Shepardson and Susu Taylor, both of Montreal; a brother, Melvin Kaufman of Montreal; and one grandchild.
