Kathryn Elsie (Katie) Dygert, 91, died peacefully in her sleep at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, Iowa, on Sunday, September 26, 2004. Mrs. Dygert, formerly from Minneapolis, Minnesota, moved to Manchester following her husband's death in 2002..

Katie was born in Duluth, Minnesota, to parents William and Elsie Bleecher in 1913. She was educated in the Duluth schools and graduated from Minnesota Teachers College. She taught school in Duluth and then in Lakeville, Minnesota, where she met and married her husband, Robert W. Dygert in 1939. Following World War II, the Dygerts made their home in Minneapolis. Mrs. Dygert was a longtime member of Hennepin Avenue Methodist Church, Chapter E, PEO, and was also a member of Eastern Star, DAR, and various other civic organizations. She was a fun loving person, who always had a smile. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Jerry Emlet of Manchester, IA, son, Jerry G. Dygert of Minneapolis, sons-in-law Kurt Jensen and Donald Drapeau, sister-in-law Betty Dygert Swanstrom; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Andy Jensen, Kim Drath, Jesse Emlet, Jolaine Mast, Mindy Jensen, Bekky Jensen, Anthony and Amanda Jensen, Annika, Allysa, and Olivia Drath, Regan Emlet, and Rorra Mast. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Marilyn Dygert Jensen; her brother, Robert Bleecher; and other friends and relatives.
