Kathryn “Katie” (Keller) Busch, the daughter of Walter and Margaret (Tuchscherer) Keller was born on April 4, 1918 in Devils Lake, North Dakota. She died at the age of 96 years on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby, North Dakota.

Katie was raised in the homes of her parents in Devils Lake and later Knox where she received her education in rural schools. On November 19, 1936, she was united in marriage to Peter V. Busch. The couple made their home, farmed and raised their family in Reno Valley Township, Pierce County. Peter died August 26, 1973. Katie continued to make her home on the farm until February of this year when she moved to the care center. Katie enjoyed giving to others and was well known for her generosity with baking and candy making. A special joy was mowing her lawn with the rider, flower gardening and feeding all the numerous cats on the farm. She will always be remembered for the “small” 20 pound Turkey she prepared every Christmas. Katie was a long time member of Little Flower Catholic Church, the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, the Rugby Court of Catholic Daughters and the Rugby Eagles Auxiliary.

Survivors include her children Bernadine “Bernie” Johnson of Towner; Walter (Angie) of Rugby, Carol Scott of Lawton, Oklahoma, Linda Dillen of Mentor, Ohio, Brenda (Dean) Duncan of Fargo and Sue (Doug) Burgard of Dickinson; many grandchildren, great grandchildren & a great-great granddaughter; one sister, Christine Zacher of Rugby; 5 brothers, Tony of Wolford, Roy (Elizabeth) & Peter all of Belgium, Wisconsin, Mike (Lorraine) of Clackamas, Oregon, and John (Nancy) of Hudson, Florida; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Dennis; a daughter-in-law, Donnis Busch; 2 sons-in-law, Robert Johnson & Norm Dillen; sisters, Mary, Teresa, Margaret, Bernice & Mary Magdalene; brothers, Walter & Dominic; and her parents.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 2nd at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with burial in the church cemetery. Father Tom Graner, Celebrant.
