Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of Charles and Lydia Littmann and was raised in Windham, NH (SIC) NY. Upon graduation from Windham High School, Florence attended Delphi Teaching College. She taught school for several years in a one room school house. On Aug. 4, 1935, Florence married the love of her life, Paul H. Kelly, also of Windham. They moved to San Diego, CA in 1939 where Paul worked for consolidated Aircraft.
Florence was active in the PTA, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and various church and community activities. In the late 60's, Florence went back to college to get her LVN license. She worked at the Monte Vista Retirement Lodge for over twenty years as an Aide and then as the Activities Director. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed making various crafts for family and friends, but her real joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Florence was preceded in death by her beloved husband Paul, who died in 1993, her son, Lt. Paul H. Kelly, who died in 1961, her son Lcdr. George W. Kelly, who died in 1978 and her grandson, Robert Paul Kelly, who died in 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, George Littmann and Robert Littmann. Florence is survived by her daughters, Carolyn A. Kelly and husband Ed Handy, Chris Kelly Brewer and husband David, daughter-in-law Judi Kelly (Story Vogel), sister Lydia "Jackie" (Littmann) Maloney, grandchildren, Lisa M. Samarron, Jennifer L. Samarron, Kyle W. K. Brewer and Caitlin A. Brewer. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, special friends and her dog Suzie.
Florence was a very sweet, loving and generous mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
