Ruth Kennedy Becker, 92 years, a resident of Huntington Common, Kennebunk formerly of Medfield, MA, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016 at her residence after a brief illness.

She was born October 7, 1924 in Lowell, MA to Alfred R. and Evelyn Staples Kennedy. Ruth attended Biddeford High School in Biddeford, ME and attended Bates College in Lewiston, ME, where she met her future husband, Richard Henry Becker and lived in Medfield, MA for several years.

Ruth was a salesperson for Kendall Mills of Walpole, MA. She went back to college and graduated from Framingham State College and received her Masters of Divinity degree from Andover - Newton Theological School. Ruth was ordained in the United Church of Christ in 1987. She served as minister for North Congregational Church in Middleboro, MA for seven years. She then moved to Kennebunk, ME in 1996 where she was a very active member of South Congregational Church of Kennebunkport. She loved to read and also loved to swim in the ocean.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband Richard Henry Becker who died in 2011, her two sons Richard Henry Becker Jr. and Stuart Kennedy Becker, her brother and sister Charles Kennedy and Esther Graf.

She is survived by her two sons, Stephen Charles Becker and his wife Jane of Wrentham, MA and Douglas Howard Becker and his wife Anne of Lee’s Summit, MO; ten grandchildren, Scott Becker of Portland, OR, Zachary Becker of Houston, TX, Noah Becker of Sanford, NC, Alicia B. Parker of Stoneham, MA, Richard Becker of Waltham, MA, Grace B. Lochhead of Norfolk, MA, Rosalind Becker of Brooklyn, NY, Matthew Becker of Dedham, MA, Stuart Becker of Dallas, TX, Sophie B. Williams of Kansas City, MO; Four great grandchildren William and Connor Lochhead, Amelia and Olivia Becker.

There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Friday December 30th, 2016 at The South Congregational Church, 2 North Street, Kennebunkport, ME with the Rev. Charles Whiston officiating. Burial will be held at Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield, MA in the spring.
